WHAT UP INTERNET?!
My crew and I spent two nights camping out and since I preferred to be playing Ocarina of Time while I was camped out on the lawn of the San Diego Convention center, I wasn’t able to hit you with the #SDCC daily wrap up. For that I apologize. However, now that I’m on the flight back home I decided to comb through the photos captured on my phone (and the massive stack of receipts I accrued over the past week) in order to provide you with the three missing daily wrap ups from #SDCC2015. (DISCLAIMER: Read this next line in your best Super Mario voice) Hereeeee we go!
After waking up around 5:00am on Friday, we huffed it straight over to the box office to pick up our tickets to that evening’s taping of Conan. My partner in crime is a big fan of Conan, and knowing our reservations weren’t tickets, we didn’t want to miss out on the taping and the #Exclusive #ConanCon Pop! Vinyl. After approximately three hours, a significant mix of Super Smash Bros on 3DS (I’m totally digging playing as Villager, by the way) and coffee, we were able to nab our tickets and snap some sweet photos of the box office and some droids while in line.
Since it was around 10:30 by the tile we finished, it was time to get in line for the day’s #Exclusive #LegoSDCC minfig: Sam Wilson as Captain America. Fortunately one of the three in the TruBros crew was able to nab it, making the daily approximate two hour wait well-worth the price. For next year’s #SDCC I’ll be sure to provide more in-depth posts detailing how the minifig drawing works, for although it’s an extremely simple system to understand I know I’m not the only one who likes to view photos detailing how things work.
After heading back to the hotel to change and drop off the minifig it was time to hit up the Petco Interactive Zone to grab some #BroFuel. The lines for all the booths (including the awesome looking Snoopy dog house) were insane, so we only hit up the Hello Kitty Café truck to grab some snacks. The food truck was done extremely well, and apart from purchasing water which was wrapped with a Hello Kitty Con 2014 (leftover?!) the doughnuts and lemonade were standard Con-quality fare (overpriced, more for looks and decent).
With some time to kill before we hit up that evening’s #ConanCon taping we decided to stroll through the nearby #Conival put on by Nerdist Industries at Petco Park. We were particularly excited for this offsite, as they had their own panels, laser-tag inspired by the title Battleborn and regular signings and exhibitors. Unfortunately, like many #SDCC off-site events, Petco Park was filled to the brim with people, making it nearly impossible to even stroll through. After seeing the oh-so-dreamy Felicia Day doing a signing, scoping out the US FIRST Booth (if you’re in middle-school/high-school the Bros recommend checking them out) and snapping a few pics, we decided to head out. The #Conival looked great, but the sheer number of people made it so we couldn’t hang around too long.
After splitting from #Conival it was time to return to our taping for #ConanCon, and once we did we were pleasantly surprised we were in the third row for the taping. The casts of both Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead were guests, which as you can imagine we were understandably stoked about. The taping was great, and during the breaks Conan was kind enough to stroll down and take selfies with fans in the audience. Although this Bro wasn’t able to snap a selfie with the new king of late night (Craig Ferguson was my favorite host and now that he’s hung up the boots) the taping was an unforgettable #SDCC experience, and the fact it came with an #Exclusive Pop! Figure was just icing on the cake.
After walking the Exhibition Hall floor once more (we do so every day) and returning to our hotel room for a few hours, it was time to keep the #ConLife spirit up by hitting up the #MashBash put on by Mashable. With free pizza, drinks, Elijah Wood as the DJ (Frodo was spinning some #NerdLife infused tunes for good measure),a booth to make GIFs of you and your crew, free nail wraps, sunglasses and temporary tattoos, the #MashBash was absolutely the hottest party we went to at #SDCC2015. Unfortunately we were only able to stay for a couple hours, because we had to do what we came to #SDCC to do: get our hands on those #LegoSDCC #Exclusives.
Since the crew and I spent the better part of the evening in line, I wasn’t able to get any blogging done. However, this does serve as a perfect segue into Saturday’s post, so check that out! Here are some pictures from Friday night’s line to warm y’all up for that post.
Scope the next post to check all the TruBros #SDCC awesome that occurred on Saturday!
